Brooklyn Army Terminal

We took a trip down to Brooklyn for a tour of the Brooklyn Army Terminal last weekend.

Construction on the Brooklyn Army Terminal started during WW1.  One of the problems the US had in WWI was getting supplies to Europe.  While the BAT was finished after the end of WW1, the Army used their experience from WW1 and funneled supplies and troops through the Terminal to Europe during WWII.

The Terminal continued to serve the Army until the 1960s.  It served multiple purposes for the US Government including a temporary mail sorting facility in the 70s.  It was sold to the City of New York in 1981 and has been renovated to house small manufacturers by the NY Economic Development Commission.
