Washington National Cathedral

While in Washington DC, we visited the Washington National Cathedral.  We thought this was going to be a quick 1 hour visit, but ended up taking all day.  We signed up for a "behind the scenes" tour that weaved you in and out of different parts of the church.

One of the more interesting stained glass windows was the "Space Window".  If you look in the center of the dark circle in the middle, you will see a clear area with a black dot in the middle. That black dot is actually a moon rock.  The window was constructed to look like space and then the artist was able to put a piece of space in the window.

The colors streaming in through the stained glass windows were very colorful.  I wasn't sure I was going to capture a true representation of what I was seeing, but the camera did a pretty good job.  I didn't even notice the maintenance worker on the left until I put the image on the computer!

This cross was constructed from the remains from the Pentagon after the 9/11 attack.
