Picture of the Day - Day 203 (Abandoned Connecticut)

On any given business day, the Westport Metro North Train Station should be packed. Parking for 500 NYC commuters and maybe 20 spaces filled at 7:00AM on a weekday morning (and three of them were working on the tracks).

Trains are running at 10% capacity. Busses are running empty. There has been a high rise office building in Stamford that has been going up for the last year. I wonder if there will be anybody to fill it when the construction is done?

Most of these office buildings are secured by 10 year leases. The migration to work-from-home will not affect them immediately. In 3-5 years when companies decide what the long term plans are going to be, I think we’re going to see a lot of open space for lease. Why does a big company need offices when 90% of their people work from home? Maybe they need a floor of 6-15 person conference rooms for day meetings that would suffice? Dunno, it will be interesting in 5 years.
