A New Season
Now that the local hockey season is over, I will start to gear up for Lacrosse Season! My traditional Lacrosse subject is Le Moyne College and they will be in the area a few times this year.
Lacrosse is very closely related to hockey, but usually higher scoring games. Plus it's outside, so that gives me more options.
I shot my first Lacrosse game with a Nikon D90 and a 55-300MM kit lens. I was 100% in Auto mode and shot in JPG format. Yuck!
The second game was shot with my Canon 60D and a 300mm f/4L lens I got from LensRentals.com. I had such a great experience with LensRentals that I have used them a couple other times. Where else can you rent a $6000 piece of glass for 3 days for a couple hundred bucks? This time I shot almost exclusively in Aperture Priority mode and RAW. The photos from this game were much better.
I am excited to shoot Lacrosse with my Canon 7D Mark II. I am planning on renting the 400mm F/4L from LensRentals for the next game. I am a little scared about how many photos I'm going to take at 10 frames per second. I am also looking forward to checking out the local high school scene, but that will have to wait until April when the College season is almost over.
